Today we read " A message to Garcia" this was wrote in 1899 which means it sounds very different when you read it . It explains that if you want something done correctly you should do it yourself or tell your employee that basks no questions. To me what I can gather is that if leaders tell people to do something you should do the task assigned and not ask questions. So if people do ask questions and give excuses the task will not be completed and the people will become lazy because they just give excuses why they shouldn't have to do it instead of just going and accepting the task and completing it. So he is saying choose your employees carefully because you don't want to be paying someone who just gives excuses on why they shouldn't do their work compared to someone who will not ask questions and do their job. In the essay Elbert states that if you call one of your 6 employees and ask them to look up in the encyclopedia and write a short memorandum on the life of corriego. The employee will give excuses on why they shouldn't do it they will never complete the task. Its similar to if your parents ask you to take the dog out and reply by saying " I took him out last time" or " Its not my dog its your brothers" So you don't have to take the dog outside. Therefore the task is never completed compared to if you obey your parents and do what they tell you. You become lazy because you have and take no responsibility for anything. Thats what Elbert is saying people, who give excuses take no responsibility for anything yet they profit from it. People should do what their told by their superiors and work for what they are rewarded for compared to being lazy and taking no responsibility and not trying in life yet your still rewarded. You will become lazy, ungrateful, and disrespectful because they don't have to try in life to survive. Thats what I understand from Elberts essay. This is also true because its still happening in todays world. In families, businesses and governments.


My five step plan to make sure I'm successful in high school is doing my homework as soon as I get home. This is because I won't forget about it when I go to do something else. So when I go to relax I have my homework completed and my book bag is ready for the next day. My second step is I will study every night before the test even if its for only 10 minutes every second of studying counts and helps achieve a better grade. My third step is that i will take as many notes as I can this is so I can study more information and also achieve better grades on tests. My fourth step is that I will check my homework once I finish it because every point that goes toward my total grade counts so it can help me achieve a better GPA.My fifth and final step is that I will be respectful to my peers because in order to be successful in high school you need more than great grades you need to respect others an make relationships to build social skills.

Today in Human geo we went over the class syllabus and learned that the class will probably be the best class this year. I learned that the difference between human geo and regular geo is that human geo studies the culture of people in the area of the world or country. In the syllabus we learned like every other teacher in this school that we need a marble composition book. I do have to say they really like it old school here. We were also told to have a inquisitive mind and after Mr schick told us what that meant I still had to google it ( I really didn't ). Anyway when he went to check to see if everyone posted their blog Vlad didn't. So while throughout class Mr schick says "Vlad you work well under pressure and by the end of class Vlad has to create a new blogger account and has to redo his blog for yesterday. Technology its a wonderful thing isn it never wants to work when you want it to and only works partially when you aren't even using it. So throughout class we can hear the marching band practicing and Mr schick is like " this is great we have our own soundtrack" Then his phone goes off and is like "oh its my daughter well I'm not going to answer it" so either were his favorite or his daughter annoys him A lot more then a class of teenagers do. So anyway he says there is no extra credit in his class which I understand were in a honors class and we shouldn't need extra credit.When I was in 7th grade I skipped a math class so I was lost in what type of math we were doing and the teacher didn't give extra credit so my grades suffered very badly. But we still don't need extra credit Mr schick is a great teacher. Finally he said to make sure you have your laptops charged because he docent allow people to charge their laptops in class. Unless you forget to charge it the night before you shouldn't need to charge it at all, We don't use our laptops long enough to drain the battery to 0%. So anyway today was another calm day and can't wait to have human geography again its my favorite class.

Today so far we have gone over the blog post for Mr Schicks Human Geography class. We have learned that even if you are sick you still have to blog each day unless you are in the hospital. We have also learned that if we do our blogs everyday for the the year we will have up to 160 points because of the added scores of all the blogs. In intro to bible in Mr kibbles class we went over the class expectations and the subjects/ topics we will go over this year. We also shared facts about ourselves and what school we went to before we came to John carroll. Mr Kimble also shared a few facts about himself. One of them being that he once biked 100 miles on a bike. He stated that he does biking fundraisers to raise money for research on different sicknesses. In advisory today we introduced ourselves to the older kids in our advisory and shared a few facts about ourself. A few of the kids in our advisory claim to be the leaders or president of the advisory. Someone also brought donuts even though I didn't have one. There was also discussions about who had a better school relationship. In English today today we had our summer reading assignments collected and we went over the syllabus for the class too. Ms zurkowski also collected our facts about ourself worksheet. We then shared two facts about ourself with one other person in our class and then shared the fact we learned from the other classmate with the whole class. Finally in English we started a analysis worksheet for our summer reading so when we have English next time we can start our essay. Many people were asking questions about how we would complete our work for the books we would read this school year. In Dr ketchum biology class we went over the textbook contracts and the lab contracts so we know what the expectations are if we do have a lab for that day. We also completed a simple lab in where we had to save a gummy worm named Sam. we have to save Sam from drowning. We have to move the cup from on top of the life saver and maneuver Sam into the life saver but do it with using two paper clips and not touching the cup, life saver ,or the gummy worm with your hands. Finally in health class today we filled out a self information sheet so Ms Gauthier could learn more about us. Then at the end of class we designed our own folders for health. I decorated my with a first aid kit and different colors. Now I'm doing homework during my free period before we leave today and I'm trying too figure out how many words I have typed.
