so today I almost forgot to do my blog but pretty much what we did today was continuing to watch the video about the growth of nations economy throughout the years we just had a lot of good questions to be asked so I don't have much to talk about.

New unit

So today we started our new unit by expanding our thinking and understanding on the role and use of population pyramids. So today besides what we already know about population pyramids we learned that they can be organized based on the ability of certain parts of the population to reproduce. We also learned different parts of demographic transition which means a economy moves from a pre industrial society to a industrial society to a post industrial society. When a economy becomes a industrial it means the economy is based on factory made products, also known as the industrial phase. This happens because of industrialization, this can cause life expectancy to increase and infant mortality rate to decrease. It can also can large amounts of the population to move from rural areas to urban areas because that would be where most jobs are. This also means it can cause birth and death rates to decrease. A specific fact we also learned today was that in 1810 the life expectancy of most nations was 40 and below. As you can see from this info industrialization can have very big effects on animations population and economy in positive and negative ways but we all know that the root of all greed is money which can destroy entire countries economies, relations with allies and even destroy personal relationships among families and cause many problems.

The day back

so today we came back from thanksgiving break and it was really hard to get used to going to each class again. So today in human geo we went over our test that we took two Fridays ago but I took it last Tuesday because I was sick, which I am glad to say I got a 95% on it so that for sure raised my grade to an A. So Mr Schick said that this was the best grades on a test my class has gotten which is also pretty good, I think there was only one person I think he didn't ring the bell for but that person still got a very good grade. So as Mr Schick is ringing the bell he says this is the most times I'm going to ring this bell in one class. After he hands back all the tests we start to go over the test answers so we can use it to study for our mid terms exams which are in a couple of weeks, so as we are going through the questions people are saying " oh I knew I that was the right answer" but still I am happy that my class got all good grades on the test and I wasn't even here for the day of the test, so I am really happy about that. Mr Schick also said that there was only two people who did the extra credit but during the end of class half of the class said they were going to do it tonight, but I have a lot of homework tonight so I'm not going to have the time to complete it.

The test

So yesterday  I took my human geo test that I missed Friday because I was sick, and to be honest I was really nervous that I wouldn't do so well on it, even though I don't know my grade yet I still feel confident that I did do well. SO since there was like five people out Friday including me Mr Schick just had a simple day. While we took the test he went over this website where you donate money to people who ask for it until the reach their goal that their asking for in order to help the me but supplies for animals or medicine or other important things, but the cool thing is that those people have to pay back the amount of money they asked for or pay off their debt to the people who donate. So I think  I was the first to finish the test but thats because I studied as much as I could and I was ready I'm don't know about the others, but I was really relieved when I completed the computer part of the test so I was very thankful for that, but after I finished the test I turned it in and listened to Mr Schick about the donation website, He said if we co plate a assignment and get family members to donate we get extra credit, its just that my parent don't really like donating money because you don't know if someone is lying and using it for other needs they don't tell the donators about, if the donate clothes and the donation organization says they will come by to pick up the donations, they won't get picked up. They say to put them is plastic bags and put them out by the curb and they will be there for the next 3 months, so you see my point I also am very busy with helping my parents, today my and my dad picked up leaves and then we dug a new hole with the new auger blade he bought for his auger and put in a new post for a new bird feeder, of course this didn't come without complications, one it was cold and I was outside for four hours it was windy so when we got the leaves into rows the wind would blow some leaves into the already picked up areas of leaves, and when were digging the whole we had to break apart three rocks will a metal stake and metal mallet which took a while because some were very strong stone but others were huge pieces of quartz. But once we got the hole dug and deep enough we took some concrete and poured it into the hole, luckily we only needed one bag and those bags aren't that big but are very heavy, so once we got the concrete poured my dad put some supports on the post to keep it level then I cleaned our the wheel barrel. We also had to replace the handles on the wheel barrel to because its so old, then my dad had to some how try and get a bigger bolt to work because we couldn't reuse one of the original bolts because of how badly rusted it was but he did it some how. So when we finally finish I go inside and get on my xbox and then I find out the wifi is not working so luckily it works now so I can do my blog.

The Detention

So today was the day that we studied for our human geo test tomorrow. The we started class we went over what push and pull factors are and what type of countries they can be found in we also went over different types of population pyramids and what the types of shapes of the pyramids represent. We also practiced going over some of the world fact book stuff and what type of questions will be asked and where to find the answers for those questions like, what is the population of a country, what is the infant mortality rate of a country, what is the literacy rate of a country, or what is the unemployment rate of a country. So as you can see we didn't really do much then review today, but mr schick says in the past couple of days he has given 4 detentions which I would never expected him to give a detention to a freshman. Also Sophia brought in doughnuts and luckily she brought in cake doughnuts which are my favorite doughnuts and the only ones I usually eat but this blog is gonna be kinda short since I have a lot of more homework and I'm not feeling well but Mr Schick I hope you have a fun trip going to see your daughter!

Presentation continued

So today we continued with finishing the presentation projects for the comparison of two different countries population pyramids. After waiting like five minutes for the class to just stop talking Faith and her group stated to present and as I said before in my last blog we could've done a lot better than we did. So faiths group compared two different countries in which I can't remember the name of but they did explain that one of the countries I think it was Haiti has a higher increasing population because in the past two years they have been affected by multiple natural disasters from hurricanes and earthquakes. As a result of these natural disasters many people have died, so as Haiti is trying to rebuild their country they are having more children so they rebuild their population and as the kids grow up they can further help in the rebuilding process of Haiti because it will take a very long time to fully recover. Even though I can't remember the second country they did a very good job on their project and I expect them to get an A. The second group to present was Maddie and Kelsie they compared two countries that I also can't remember the name of but they compared that a fact of one of the countries having a very high male population was that they had many men working on oil platforms which is a very laborious job that is also very dangerous. So they explained that because they have such a high male population percentage their population is increasing at a very slow rate because there aren't as many women to have kids and also because women mainly don't work on oil platforms which is this countries main economy. Both groups did a great job at comparing their charity organization in which I didn't even know people used to trick or treat for donations to Unicef. They would have their candy bucket and another for donations. I don't know if there is any more groups that have to present but tomorrow is our test which is 100 points so I will be studying for it, I also have to study for my bible test tomorrow along with my math test Monday but I'm pretty confident about math which is something I have never said before in my life. So I'm a little stressed out but next week we will have our first thanksgiving in our new kitchen so the whole family is coming over, I'm just ready for Christmas already which I have to say, they have already started playing Christmas music and my neighbors have started decorating their house already.

presentation

So today in class me and chase presented our project, even though we weren't prepared for it I think we did a pretty good job. When we presented our project we stated our questions (the link to our project is in my last blog). So as were presenting Mr Schick says we should have explained our answers a little more in depth which I do of course understand but overall I think we did a pretty good job. I do think we could have added a little more but the night it was due I had a lot of more homework so I kinda rushed to get it finished but I do agree that I could have dine a little better with explaining our answers better. So when I got home today me and my mom had a discussion wether Doritos are chips or not so Mr Schick when you do read this post I want your opinion wether or nit Doritos are chips or not, and I do know this blog is late, my computer died when I was doing it and it didn't save so when I put it on the charger I forgot about it but I'm just worried about test and exams as of now, but I am just trying my best to raise my human geo grade back up to a A, I'm really trying to get the highest grades on my assignments as I can because very single grade counts. A lot of the presentations have already been done and a lot of them are very good I just hope I get at least a medium B on ours .

quiz 2.0

SO today we had to retake the pop quiz we had yesterday, but since I couldn't get the notes we had the day I left early I wasn't able to know what would be on the quiz. So we retook it and I still don't feel confident about it but of course it will drop my grade to a F and it will take me forever to bring it back up which will only add to the amount of stress that I already have to deal with. But after that we went over some of the project we had to complete yesterday, some of the questions related to which country had a larger population in a certain age group or which country had a higher death rate or which country had a higher birth rate or which country had a higher percent of middle age people. So at the beginning of class everyone was yelling at me and complaining because I dint bring in food and first of all I didn't have time to get anything so now I'm the bad guy so I'm already done for the day but I did complete my project and I did take my time on it so I'm confident that we will Get a good grade that will bring my total grade up to at least a B but I just hope my grade can be raised very quickly because I really don't need to deal with this right now with exams just next month and we have two breaks for holidays in between so my grade is really in trouble which means my future classes, so I'm praying to god that I can get my grade up before the end of the quarter. I also emailed my mom in the middle of class to tell her about the quiz so I at least don't get in trouble when I walk through the door of my house.

Pyramids

So today when we started class we went over what we learned last week like what TFR is , what crude birth and mortality rate is along with what some of the data of how many years it took for there to be 1 billion on the earth and the years in between for how many years it took for another billion too be on the earth. We also went over what push and pull factors were for migration like civil war or the lack of health care along with the the amount of jobs a country has or the freedom of religion and speech. So today we learned what a population pyramid is. A population pyramid is basically a horizontal bar graph that compares two different things at once. A common example of a pollution pyramid is one that compares the percent of the population and the ages groups of both male and female. This is commonly used to compare wether how long women live longer than men because women generally live longer than men. But yet it can also be used to compare what age groups are migrating out and into the country. These graphs can be very helpful to many people trying to find comparable data between two groups. I think their pretty cool too. But during the beginning of class this kid Owen not only did he bring a car but he forgot plates, forks, something to cut the cake with and napkins. So everyone had to eat with. their hands. So good luck to the janitorial staff and I'm so sorry you have to clean that up, good job Owen.

the water

So today was the day that I brought in water for the whole entire class. before my mom dropped me off at school we went to shop right and bought three cases of half bottles of water, 3 cases for 5 dollars which is a pretty good deal. When I walked into class everybody was like " oh my god ben" they were so surprised that I had bought so much water which wasn't really expensive, anyway when we started class we went over what infant mortality rate was, it is the number of infants who die before their first birthday. We also learned what TFR is, it is the total fertility rate, this is the average amount of children born per woman. In order for the rate to increase it needs to be higher than 2.1 but for it to decrease it needs to be lower than 2.1, this is because 2.1 is the TFR for a countries population to remain the same. The worlds average is 2.42 which decreased from 2.54. That is a big difference between a population. So after that Mr Schick told us to go onto CIA.gov because we were going to answer some questions using that website. the first question was what is the USA population and we found out it was 326,625,791. We also learned using this website that Nigeria is the African country with the biggest population, another fact we learned was that Mexico's population was 82.7% catholic, that is more than Canada and the USA. Another fact we looked up was what was the infant mortality rate for the US, and we found out it was 5.8 out of 1000, yet though this may seem high there is some countries with a 50 out of 1000 or even higher. This can severely affect a countries RNI( rate of natural increase). We also learned that Japan has 1.4 TFR ( total fertility rate) which is very low, this is because more women are going to school and starting work in more jobs that were or used tube accustomed to men like the military or construction. This means women aren't having as many children as they used to, this can also affect the TFR along with the infant mortality rate by lowering. it severely because not as many children could be dying per 1000 people because there isn't  a lot of children being born. But yet this can negatively impact the TFR because not many children are being born so the population isn't increasing by a decent amount for it to remain the same as before. Along side from this stuff we learned about population today was a pretty long day I'm just glad I get to go home soon.

The Rome test

So today we had our Rome test and for the first time in history of my class it was a open blog test. I didn't have all the answers but I...
